This is my Final Major Project as part of my university degree. My project is a survival game set in Alaska and based on harsh survival conditions. This post is to document my progress and to gather feedback and critique in order to better my skills and my process in Environment Art.
What i have within the environment so far is a Landscape, a 4033 height map to create the landscape and a material with 2 textures and 2 masks, one texture of snow and one of rock blended together using the masks. A low poly tree, roughly 800 polys ish, a rough placeholder bark texture and the leaves/needles authored withing 3ds Max and baked to give the resulting colour, normals and alpha maps, all placed within a material that has some blending snow to match the environment better. As my project is a survival game and is set around exploring, i wanted a few cabins to be present for the players to find and explore to gather some supplies. This is currently a work in progress and all i have is the mid/high poly models of a modular cabin kit in order to make the cabins in a variety of designs, this is still in the design process so any feedback you have will be greatly appreciated.
