Wacom tablet with monitor

Hey,

I`ve a Wacom Intous Medium but I really can`t draw in one place and look the other. I saw some ``monitor tablets`` but they are really expensive ($1000+) and I don`t know if the difference is really that big (I`ve never used one). Is it really that better? What`s the best model?

See ya

For whatever it is worth, if you keep using your intuos medium you will get used to it. In pretty much the same way you don't need to look at your mouse in order to move it to click on something, eventually it will just become second nature to you to draw without looking down at your hands.

You will get used to a a pad like an intuos over time. But for me it never felt as natural as drawing on paper. I can't sketch or do casual work on a pad, only final work and paintings.

Meanwhile using a screen regardless of quality is WAY more natural. That means various tablets,  Ugee displays,  and the times I've gotten to try a cintiq always feel better and allow me to sketch naturally and be more creative than with my intuos I've been using for 5 years.

That said,  if you're new to digital painting,  getting a screen won't make you better,  and there will still be a learning curve. But imo, it's much more natural even if it's the cheaper brands,  and I'd pick that over a Wacom pad any day. But I can't even afford that right now.

I own a Cintique 21ux and have worked on 22HDs, they are amazing.  I've messed around with the Yiynova MSP19U+, it's pretty good but if you don't feel comfortable with doing some heavy troubleshooting on your computer I wouldn't recommend it, out of the box it won't work with everything.

I own a Bosto Kingtee 22HD Mini & it works great. The only annoying thing is the pen detection range (how far you can lift the pen off the screen & still have it detected - hovering). I like to use right-click navigation in ZBrush.
Also the pen is triangular & only has 1 button.
Had it for several months now & still going strong. Works fine in all the apps I use.
