Subsea Simulation/Animation guy here, seriously looking in to using this for some ideas that I have. Certainly seems like a much cheaper option than some of the crazy prices of exisiting simulation solutions. Are you involved with the Kongsberg Vessel simulator? was supposed to go visit it a few years ago with work but never got round to it.
Yup haha! I'm actually a relatively new hire coming up on my sixth month, I work on making the visual databases at the Groton, Connecticut branch that used to be in Mystic before they moved to a bigger office. Are you also in CT by chance?
Things about it could be better like the animation, model polycount and materials.
What I am liking about it is the potential and how it can be pushed further. Heard Cryengine V can't be used for archviz animations, only free for games. Lumberyard is free for architecture use so I am going to try it out. Realtime GI is a plus with this engine. Don't know why they didn't turn on motion blur for this demo. Any opinion on Lumberyard so far if anyone has tried it?
It's been long I tried it. Had a problem with the lighting as it's dynamic only and the bounces weren't sufficient enough for archviz. Looking at the second demo, the lighting is still not good enough espcially in the interior shots as most of the shadows are missing. @Kwramm Have you tried the latest version of the engine yet? Seems like ppl are trying the engine out as a result of star citizen adopting the engine instead of cryengine.
So is model import any improved be the Lumberyard team or do they still use the oldshool CryEngine way ? Getting models into CryEngine is still a nightmare with FBX import beeing very buggy and unreliable.

The lighting still needs a lot of work especially for interiors. Good to know they are still making improvements.
