Here is my reference. For some reason, spiders always send the chill down my spine, and combined with a human form? Even creepier. I got inspired by Jorogumo youkai from Japanese folklore here obviously. I also found a great Thai legend as inspiration: a young beautiful woman who died because of miscarried her child, but came back to life because of her eternal love for her husband-a soldier who recently returned from war, and was not aware that his wife was a ghost.
For the back story, I want depict a spider beast/monster that falls in love with a human. Still not 100% flush out the story yet, but that is the general idea.
I want to aim for a more Eastern/Asian type of beast/monster/spirit(like Japanese youkai) that I often find creepy and interesting.
