Back Story
Amoung the Ceronians, Shaman Rye ranks highest as he has evolved beyond
both body and mind. The Shaman are trained from birth in martial arts and channeling their energy. For ages they have protected their homeland from the encroaching doom of the Ziragins, the Dark Ones that dwell on the lower planes. Their expanded grip tightens onto the higher realms of Ceronia.
Thanks to all the feedback, I had a great time working on this and hope to join in on more challenges.

1. Add a belt to the waist to hold up the cloth. Next, on the back view - once you add the belt add some tension wrinkles on the skin + cloth so it feels tightened.
2. Scale up some of your bag shapes. Like, the buttons are pretty small and metal buckles could be bigger.
3. Thicken your circular bird shapes on the armor in the front. Makes it more noticeable from afar and more attractive design wise.
4. Make your shapes bigger on your buckles on the front as well as medallions.
5. Add some detail pimples, scratches done manually (dam standard) and a few alphas. Play with some anatomy more. Also add some veins.
6. Play with your cloth by working with your wrinkles more. I use Hpolish!
and something like this for his staff
He doesn't look scary though, any plan on getting him creepier or anything ?
I really love the style !
not going to be too creepy but i will detail it more with skin
also question is it 4x 4K maps so I can have body, cloth on seperate 4k maps?
Nice staff by the way.
I did some messing around with the shield in substance - that's all for now.
here is a rope bake test render in marmoset.
Two things that i see are:
- The head is looking too even in terms of colors, i think that you need to break it a little and add some variety.... at least a different color for the horn if nothing else.
- The shield is looking great...but is drawing too much attention compared with the head. Is like the shield is the main subject and the character a prop to justify the shield existance (just imo of course).
That is because the shield not only is big and in the center, but is the most saturated and shiny thing.
Bottom line, I'd try to shift the focus from the shield to the head.
Keep it up and thanks for the tut!
