Has anyone here used height data to create a highly detailed terrain? I've got some lidar data and have been trying to get a DEM out of it, but it's not going well.
I used microDEM to get height maps out of scan data from space shuttle missions, problem is the highest res data that's publicly available isn't high enough res for anything smaller than a few thousand square kilometers. lidar data from airplanes are much higher res but not free and are only available for specific areas.
The plot that I need a DEM for is approx 50m x 50m, and I have 50cm DTM lidar data. I think that's detailed enough. I have no previous experience with this, and all I'm getting is a flat plane for the DEM, when I know that the plot and surrounding area is steep and varied. I'm not sure where the fault is. Would you be interested in taking a look at the files?

You can obtain either raster or point cloud data at a high res. Dem>32bit .tiff>16bit .png>UE4
