Some time ago I posted some of my work and asked for critique, I received some really good ones, and decided to rework one of my models while applying those tips:
Obs: I also decided to learn to create my own materials in Substance Painter instead of using premade ones from the internet, this exercise was great for me, and it paid for the effort put in

I however think you should rework the materials. The metal looks a bit off as does the wood grips. I believe you are going for the stainless steel look, and walnut grips. The weathering on the metal is too consistent, that weathering does not carry over to the wood grips they look brand new. I would also add some crevice occlusion to add some more detail and visual interest. It appears you missed a piece of detail on the slide, the second notch near the slide stop. Also, do not render with a black background the visual contrast is jarring to the viewer and detracts from your piece. The safety also looks a bit off.
Post your texture flats and which Springfield 1911 you are modeling after.
what piece are you saying i missed on the slide? what colours would you recommend for a render? i really dont know what is the best setup for the render
Crevice occlusion is similar to Ambient Occlusion however it is focused to crevices.
Regarding a background for rendering, I would choose a grey with a tinge of cool blue or the ambient sky blurred in Marmoset.
The little notch to the right of the larger notch, where the slide stop locks:
ok, im going to re-render those shots
