(SOLVED) Eyes slipping out of head when animating (rig help)

Hello!

This might be the wrong place to ask but I'm having a bit of a problem rigging a model. Everything's fine, except for the eyes, which slip out of their sockets when the head is moved, making my guy look deranged.

I've weighted them to their Eye bones correctly and the eyes are set to 'keep offset' with the head. 

Amongst a bunch of small change attempts, I've tried:

  • Separating the eyes into their own objects and parenting to bones
  • Replacing eye bones entirely
