guys thanks for the comments - I'm glad someone's watching
here's the first one of the year - and I intend on counting 365 more till next year ! - this one's pretty awesome if I may say so - my poor i7 CPU was yelling and squealing
Definitely your best so far! Great job posting every day too.
I don't really know if I speak for anyone else but I'd really love a gumroad tutorial just following your modeling, uv'ing, texturing, and rendering process. Doesn't have to be anything too fancy (although the better production work you put into it the more you could theoretically charge for the tutorial).
I'd just love to see how you work up these pieces in a more in depth way than the speed videos you have posted (which are educating in their own respect).
sorry didnt catch the messge.. yeah, this is the best I can do for now, time consuming process all around barely had the time to record and process the videos I got .. - I keep UV on box mapping and stuff like that, just enough so I can make it in time.. with time I'm thinking I'll do more
Thank you, i am trying to push the quality as much as I could for this little project.
Dude you're kind of stealing my thread here - only my stuff here (if you didn't notice) but it's OK I guess.. it's a public space .. I might as well start a sci fi thread - more watchers
Really nice work in here, really got to say the amount of stuff you've knocked out in this thread is great (Y)
Although the models you're building seem fine with me my biggest concern with most of your pieces (not all) are the contrast values / post effects/ etc for your final shots...
I tend to find a lot of your pieces quite noisy? e.g. (it kind of looks like the ship's smoking out because of a fire etc...)
or generally has quite a harsh conflict between focal points because of even values of lighting sources e.g. (my eyes are drawn to either side but not the end of the corridor.)
or they tend to look a little flat because of composition/values e.g. (I don't get a sense of distance between these ships, you could vary the scale / colour tones / etc for depth)
or... the lighting leads my eye from your intended focal points e.g. (my eyes are more drawn to the lighting at the top or at the bottom of your cylindrical structure)
where as compositions/lighting in some of your other projects such as this.... (works really damn well)
Ideally just keep that in mind? On the model side however you seem pretty solid with your workflow now, so keep it up! but if for example a Halo 5 model with bad presentation or environments with compositions that conflict with itself will take the cherry right off the top of your "super-tasty-mega-fun-overdrive-limitbreak-over9000-onepunchman" Sundae, haha
I would agree with Kid and say that it seems very strange the way these are presented. It seems like a lot of what's posted is simple geometry organized in a complex way and then overlayed with a lot of post effects that just make everything look more noisy. I know you're doing this once a day which is pretty impressive, but I think if you tried to model something on a smaller scale that is more complex and with fewer post effects, the end result would look nicer. I still really love how these turn out though! keep at it.
well, yeah that's how I roll, trying to do as much as possible with what I got, and training to just do it - that last one I rendered up to 4 AM, computer crash, a lot of instanced geometry, just setting up the rock texture and stuff takes some time, so I'm dealing with technical stuff, brushing up on speed, and getting the most with what I got - it doesn't seem like it's way difficult, but it's very messy at times and time consuming .. like I think I work on something for 2 hours, turns out, it's 6 .. BTW you can check other stuff https://www.behance.net/kresimirjelusic - I did some landscape architecture projects for like weeks for a contest, and then we loose to a something that doesn't really look better, and the feedback is like meh.. it's frustrating to work on one thing for weeks, so I do it now to please myself mostly - the mission of the day to finish it no matter what - that way I have something to reflect on and notice what people like, and can polish up on some of those .. - but yeah, basic premise is get rid of the empty canvas anxiety, learn by doing, make any mistake into a feature, don't be afraid to test stuff - the rewarding part is me knowing I finished one thing that day, and that thing is mine .. it helps me I'd say even emotionally
also listen to this thing, interesting https://www.gameartinstitute.com/store/Ly2FjYFT I tend to break the rules, but I guess it's OK if you understand them, I guess what I'm doing is more conveying the mood or selling the image, although I'm more doing it for myself, if someone likes it, that's great
- and yeah I read the comments and try and adjust accordingly so thanks for those guys
thanks, I'm worried about those stations that I actually put in a lot of detail that don't show up.. but I reuse some of them later so they get their share
