This is my new project : A female commissar from the Warhammer 40k universe. This is my first real attempt at making a character, so I'm a little bit nervous.
I would suggest not modeling in those chest details like that. With the way you have it, it will cause all kinds of headaches and clipping with the rigged mesh. Plus you can just as easily paint those details in. edit: unless your planning on sculpting/baking and doing a different lp mesh, in which case carry on.
i would agree with rory. it seems pretty detailed for something you are going to hand paint.. that said. no more so than the blubber buster guys and they make everything look amazing, so as long as you know what your doing im gonna sit back and watch :P

Great start for your first character. Chainsword texture's coming along nicely.
