Polycount Update - BUGS & SUGGESTIONS

COMMON/IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS & BUGS

Below is a list of common suggestions or bugs we're seeing users report in this thread.

1. The front page won't load on mobile and the forum is loading a default Vanilla skin. The front page should be loading and the forum skin needs to be Polycount themed.
2. The site could use a pass on overall spacing of information, make things a bit tighter.
3. Quote button doesn't work.
4. The WYSIWYG editor can bust formatting at times, making it difficult to fix.
5. Many users used the 'New Posts' button from vBulletin and would like to see it back.
6. The notification window that pops up from the bottom left of the screen has white text on a whitebackground, making it illegible. 
7. There is some confusion over when and how threads get updated. Some users cannot tell where there posts are going when they reply, others have a hard time discerning if a thread is updated since they viewed it last when looking at the thread list. There is an icon indicating this, but it needs to be more apparent.
8. There is a missing step in the forum breadcrumb that is omitting the main Forum name. See here.
9. Emoticons are appearing in the Lightbox and when sending content to the front page. This shouldn't happen.
10. Many users are hoping for redirects from old forum links, as many of them have specific threads bookmarked that no longer work.
11. This member's name is all kinds of buggered.
12. Users reported that Facebook & Twitter links is broken. I need to investigate this bug for better details.
13. Clicking on a front-page news post that comes from a REPLY does not link to the reply, it links to the page it was posted on.
14. Bring back custom Polycount emoticons.
15. The website favicon is missing.
16. Users are reporting some poor performance happening in the WYSIWYG editor.

Email notifications were meant to be set to off by default. I've notified Vanilla to update this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@SonicBlue , thanks for explanation, but does not work in Firefox. In IE it worked once. Now it seems to be disfunctional again.

And i think we mean two different things. Clicking at the last field in the category just leads you to the latest post in the latest thread of this category.

What is still missing is the find latest posts button. Imho this functionality to show the latest posts is super important. It was there in the former Polycount version. And seems to be gone. As it is now i cannot really use the new forum. There is no way to show the posts that gots created since my last visit. And going through the categories one by one is ways too cumbersome. I don't really want to click at 26 buttons that each leads me to the end of a thread that i might want to read from the start, plus opening up 26 categories one by one and have a look if there was more than one new topic in this category.

Found a Bug: Forum overview. Zoom in. The values for Topic and Replies will vanish at one point.

The "last" mouseover works for me in FF 42.

One thing, not sure if already mentioned: I miss posts having a reference number in their top-right. Is there no way to link to a specific post in a thread anymore? I see that there is #latest but #12 for example doesn't work. I miss that.

Hm, the mouse over works when i am in a sub category. But not top level in the forum overview.

@Tiles, I didn't even knew there was a function like that in the older forum. You can however click on the LATEST POST slot on the rightmost part of the various subforums, it only works for the displayed latest post though.

I think I've found a bug, I received this morning a LOT of emails about this thread. Checking in the favourites, this thread was not listed, I did in fact removed it some days ago, since it's sticky and I can find it easily, so, how did I managed to get the notifications?

@UP My notification preferences were set in a way that i should not receive any emails at all from about 2 weeks now. And yesterday I got many emails from this thread. Just to let you guys know.

Same here, i have notifications set to popup but this morning i got like 20 emails about threads

Users who have email notifications set to off - are you receiving email notifications still? Like in the last 2-3 hours?

I disabled the option "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in." and don't think I got any emails since. I only get notifications on the top of the website now.

The script should be working properly now and has disabled all Email notifications off by default. You'll need to opt-in to them.

Any possibility of enabling vanilla's REST API? Probably a pretty low priority thing, but it'd be nice to integrate polycount with my desktop feed.

It would be nice if "Last" on the forum view would the last poster in the the thread, and the author would be under the name of the thread.

 So in IE11 (I know I know) when I insert a link or image, it always inserts it at the beginning of the text box no matter where the text cursor is.

Edit: Never mind, seems to work fine now

It would be ace if the notification tool bar would let you right click/middle mousebutton a link to open in new tab and then stay open.
Currently (for me at least) right click disables the box and mmb opens in new tab but closes the notifications.

@Adam:  you managed to fix the issue with my bugged nickname: now I can access the profile and most of the profile related functions seem to work just fine. Many thanks !

Today I was checking up on a thread for new comments since I posted a little video tutorial yesterday and it has completely vanished, the thread was even on the front page yesterday.

The line spacing is too wide when editing a post, looks very odd. 

Also i find it a little odd when it shows who was the last responder, if it was you it shows the last person instead.

I can tell something has been happening today I've been getting errors here and there, "Sticky" Changed to "Announcement" and then back to "Sticky" during the course of the day and at some point I also saw where it shows "1 new" "2 new" etc... anything over 1 said "plural".

Thanks everyone for your submitted bugs and ideas for the website now that we've updated Polycount.  You've been really patient this far and we appreciate all of the ideas and support.

Our priority right now is to get the bugs settled before we jump in to format/layout/function changes we'd like to update with. Once we've submitted fixes for these bugs I'll update this thread with a changelist and push it to the News page.

In the mean time, feel free to IM me directly if you have any comments or questions about the site.
