Updating a God of War

Sony has posted a short article on the trials of remastering their God of War PSP games into proper HD games.

It sounds like it was a ton of fun for the lucky developers that got slated with the task:

We ended up going through every single character in the game and doubling or tripling polygon count by hand, as well as up-rezing and re-painting every texture across both games at 4x resolution on both characters and environments.

They even have some video plus a few screens for you to ponder at their blog.

Clever, I wish more people realized the work that goes into HD'ing old games.

I'm actually looking forward to this release since I don't own a PSP and I've played all GoW's but these two.

oh god up-rezing, this had to be a nightmare to work on. I get annoyed if I'm asked to do it on just one asset, I couldn't
imagine a whole game.
