Would this be considered a good or bad practice for the corner of a game model?

It really depends on the piece and how it is connected to the rest of the part. If you can reduce polies without suffering quality, do it.

The above image works but you don't necessarily need to get rid of the bevel. It depends on how you plan to unwrap your model, where you want smoothing splits, and if you are going to use normal maps.

I would say your model is fine except that edge loop that runs through the center of the thickness of the shape. That one can be removed.

It's not bad, but as C86G has suggested you can save some polys. I would definitely remove the edge loop from the center of the sides.

Oh yeah the one in the centre was there to allow me to mirror the top down thats going of course.
