Hey peepz!
Im working on a modular environment set and need help.
I have my sculpted high poly walkway and have the low poly version.
Now I realize that having individual stones would be unnecessary polygons as they can easily be baked to a flat plane and only have the parts on the side be actual stones with the part in the middle being a flat face.
On the right is what I mimicked roughly what it would look like.
What I need help with is making the middle part a flat plane.I tried welding the opposite stone edges together but its a looong and seems like a retarded way of doing it.
If anyone know of an easy way to do it I would really appreciate it.
In this pic of Diablo, you can look at the edges of the walkway and platform ad see that the surface can easily be flat with detail on the edges.

SO onto what you're actually asking!
Regarding the tileable meshes, usually you want to think about this before sculpting and set up the blocks so that there are no breaks in blocks. That way when you go to bake you can just duplicate the mesh 8 times around the original and bake!
Here's a link from the Polycount tutorial section that illustrates this method pretty well, check it out and let us know if you have any other questions!

Also there is a ton of great tutorials in the wiki section, I highly recommend you check them out!
