DDO/NDO painters, 3DO now can do baking. Seem very comparable to the Allegorithmic suite of programs. Free upgrade if you own Quixel 1.0.

Is that using Photoshops native 3d or their own?
i hope this fixes the crashing as well
I'm really curious to see how much difference it makes.
+1
When it came to purchasing decision, it was Substance that won me over based largely on the fact it wasnt reliant on photoshop.
Why?
Photoshop is great. You can almost use DDO as a layer manager. It's awesome.
My own personal beef is that at some point last year, photoshop updated, and changed some stuff under the hood, which made quixel tools just straight up crash until quixel was able to hop in and rework their stuff to deal with the change in photoshop. Was either the jump to CC or CC2015, don't remember.
On one hand, being seated in a familiar tool is great, on the other hand, quixel has been significantly less stable for me than substance,
That being said, I love both...and I'm pretty stoked to play with this!
Right? Plus the speed increase looks to make it a solid competitor.
If this delivers a long with Megascans we can start closing the gaps a bit..
I spent a pretty penny on Quixel a while back, and I've never been able to properly use it, it's really a punch in the gut.
PS this update is utterly mindblowing
Can anyone in the beta comment on stability? Is it fair to say that 2.0 is more sturdy than 1.8?
At least you can even open the software for the past year
I agree though at some point Quixel Suite does need to make the move to be standalone however I disagree with all of the stability issues on top of adding all of these new features whether it would have been response able to add it in 2.0.
It must be an issue with my windows not quixel itself.
iam happy for the free update thx!!!
The quixel tools blow me away, this is going to be a blast!
And depending on how you (or any random software you've once downloaded) change some settings on your computers, many issues can popup while using DDO,from a simple warning that has no sense (some of them look like some Photoshop Actions that failed to operate due to layer structuring or naming conventions) to a very big BSOD.
That's why sometimes it's really hard for Quixel to spot certain errors that can be caused by anything, absolutely anything.
With that said,i also think they should go standalone in the 3rd iteration of Quixel Suite,or build a solid relationship with Adobe to help them solve some of these issues.
With that said,i must say Quixel did a fantastic job on 3D painting, and if this version delivers what it's promising,we might finally have THE texturing software that combines traditional workflow with modern tech
What's your opinion on the new release ? do we finally have the smart Photoshop texturing tool,or are there any other things you think are to improve ?
Are the brushes quixel only or can we use any brush we have in PS ?
Always things to improve, but I'm liking it more and more for every update, was going back and forth between painter and the suite but as things improved I have more and more gone over to the suite.
This is what I'm beginning to come to a conclusion on, even in it's clunky 1.8 state I'm finding that what I see in 3DO translates to Marmoset and other very well. With SP it's been a constant battle for me.
Anywho looking forward to this update, looks awesome!
thanks for the information, but do you mean C: by root or the user root inside windows?
Is that process much faster now ??
Because I hate clicking a few buttons then wait. That's why I switched to Substance.
its confirmed guys the update is awesome
also, what extent of 3d navigation is possible? for instance, can you hide/unhide parts of the mesh? thanks! really looking forward to the release regardless.
I just started to use dDo again for some work stuff recently and have been tearing my hair out. Its incredibly unstable on every machine I've ever used it on. It crashes and corrupts my work every few minutes/clicks, essentially making itself useless.
Nice one!
Looking forward to this update and I hope it is more stable
I also feel slightly guilty that my dDo is really solid... CS6 here, too.
