Hi everyone
/
I've used material editor in unreal engine, and started learning substance designer(with 30 days trial version).
I want to know if it's worth to use in our studio, but till now, I couldn't find distinct benefit of using it. (many examples are about dirty tiles.. worn metals..)
I know substance designer makes procedural textures, but can't find a good example to apply them.
Can someone recommend a good example that utilized procedural textures? (which is not easy to make only with material editor)

Think of it this way.
- You create a Snow network.
- You create a dirt network.
- You create a network that detects height.
Now you can plug both dirt and snow on your terrain and use the height network to choose what to reveal. There are just tons of ways you can reveal your snow and dirt on the model which can be generated procedurally, so it will work on everything you throw it on.
Node base does require a total different way of thinking tho which makes initial learning quite hard. Just like Houdini.
As to good example, I think if you search Polycount you'll find tons of awesome looking Substance.
