I am digging the squared edged definition, I can see that]s an intended style, but when I was first looking, it almost looked accidental.
Looks like you are nearly done, but I think if you had included maybe one major squared bevel, like along the top of the barrel, it would have visually set it up as "this style is bevely boxy" and let the rest of the bevels work with it.
I also think it'd be cool to play around with squareish bullets. I know they would be impractical, needing care when loading, and harder to cast, etc. But it would fit with the style and probably look really cool anyway.
My favorite is the lime green sight indention. Love lime green!
i think this bake is mostly there. there's still a ray miss on the latch and a pinch on the bottom right side of the grip. quick to fix and then i'll do the final ones when i'm at work. i think i'm gonna take the square-grid-knurling stuff off the release latch and just do regular old knurling with a heightmap, the stuff I modeled is too clearly cg. the twist on the threading is also too aggressive it turns out, but i dont really wanna change that in the hp atm, i guess laziness.
Yeah, I second that idea. The insets seem a little dull at the minute... But otherwise I want to know more about your workflow, that's such a cleanly baked out model! Got any tips when it comes to baking? Fantastic!
yeah it's all photoshop. I use bakes and generic overlays for a lot of things and use pics or wacom at the end for details.
Sweet, thank you. I'm gonna have to go back and try photoshop again for finer/better brush control.
Newest pics look great. My only small crit is that the flat-heads on the bolts look a little too wide. I realize the project is about wrapped up but maybe something to consider for future projects

tweaks to base stuff
Not sure I really like the yellow color of that lever on the side though.
In general, how are you approaching your textures. Is it straight photoshop?
