New Computer and videocard for game design

Hello everybody,

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I currently have computer with a Nvidia GeForce GT 705 mounted on it and I am trying to understand what video card I can mount on it too boost the gaming/ game design performance.

Long story short, when I got back home, I found a brand new computer as a surprise. My dad bought it with the help of a technician friends of ours because he knew my old computer was starting to struggle.

The problem is that when I opened the Unreal engine 4 and loaded my university project, the only way to make the game run smoothly (and believe me, it was definetely not a NEXT GEN GAME PROJECT) was to have all the setting to Normal/minimum...

Aside from feeling like shit for having to change and fix a PRESENT, I am now a bit confused about what kind of videocard I can mount on my pc. Here's some more specs of the machine:

OS: Windows 8.1

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20 GHz 3.20GHz

RAM: 8GB

I was thinking of buying a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750. Will it work on my machine??

It will work if your case is big enough and if you PSU is strong enough and has the right connectors for it. Both of those shouldn't be a problem but it's worth checking before you get it I guess.

I think you should look to get a card with 2GB of Vram. Something like a EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti 2GB would be ideal. For that card your power supply should be 400W and have one 6 pin pci-e power connector.
