What is the best way to learn portraits? I seem to be unable to catch the right shapes and life in the drawing and it always is a struggle with continuous fixing of issues.
What are the best ways to practice this? I also have huge problems with detailing as my color and brushstroke control is terrible, any good exercises for this as well will be highly appreciated.
The topic was Police Force from 2099. This is the third version. THis last one was inspired by Panty and Stocking. Did not nail the style at all (well, maybe the colors), but their lines are so aggresive, mine are not.
The second is a speedpaint. I wanted to emulate the style in Duelyst artworks. I think this one went pretty well. Learning environments seems to be a bit easier for now than working on characters. I spend the wast majority of my time working on my characters though. So maybe I am just better trained at spotting what is wrong.
these guys are so good. Practice from today. I found that I al better at using my brushstrokes than before. So yey. Before I often had to go in and blend with many strokes to get the right effect. Now I do that much faster. Still miles behind. The Paul Kwon piece was actually hardest technique-wise. I find problems when I have to be precise, and his style there is very precise.
Hey guys. Have been trying to improve as usual. Quit my non art related job, I feel less depressed as a result, hope it will last longer. Still no idea how I am going to survive, don't want to do anything else.
You keep saying you're struggling/confused but it all looks like you know what you're doing to me. I like the bike and Undyne, almost everything! Those metal material studies from earlier are great.
Wow, thank you so much. Now I am not sure if I am really confused or if I just FEEL confused
Here is a render of a drone.
My trial on 3ds max ends in 4 days. Any ideas on what I may do? I cannot afford the subscription. What are good alternatives? I already have Blender, if that is the best solution.
long time no see so here is a dump. I really want to make games some day ^__^.
I made these whilst obsessing over Onepunch-Man. Needed to kill time in between episodes.
those are all referenced from either the manga or the anime (I wish I was so good with shapes on my own).
I have also completed a mentorship with Anthony Jones. Literally the best month of my life. Unfortunately my tablet started not working (that was back in November) and I still cannot get it back to work properly. It is super frustrating not to mention that I have an appointment with a neurologist Tomorrow because my hand is going to hell as well (I seriously hope there are pills for that so I have no stupid excuse, but drawing has been a real issue lately - you can see it on the wobbly lineart which is partly caused by the broken tablet driver and partly due to the tremors in my hand)
the same one redesigned
plus some other personal work (or work work which I do a bit now)
this one is inspired by DVA from Overwatch.
I really want to learn drawing the body using a grid/box and simplify the shapes. I am having a really hard time understanding that, though.
I wanted to paint something with the soft brush, like really really soft.
some attempt at isometry.
and here is an explosion. I think there was a tutorial for this one. I only reverse engineered the gif, but I vaguely remember reading it a few years ago
I get so easily lost in the volumes. Especially when they are wobbling back and forth, which looks bad in real time, but seems ok when I scroll through them on the timeline.
Thanks for stopping by. I will appreciate the hell out of any advice!
here are some more recent things. Working on light, composition, materials and efficiency.
looking for crits especially on the last one. I want to add colors and improve it in pretty much all areas. I just don't know if it is any good anymore. I kinda learned a lot with it (I know they are not perfect but the legs and the pose in general has been a problem for me for a long time) So on one hand I am pleased that I managed to tackle those issues, but on the other hand I cannot discern whether I am pleased by my progress or by the objective quality of the piece.

Great job on these studies dude keep it up
another material study. Been stuck on this for ages. Not really perfect, but I feel I need to move on.
Was looking for paintings, was confused.
Found paintings. Blown away.
5/5 stars man, I'm still drooling over your work
doodling in the evening.
I've been exploring different techniques in Photoshop. I get easily confused.
I have became a huge fan os Ankama in the meantime. Their stuff is so pretty
I used a soft round brush through all of the process. I love it. I always used to avoind the soft brush, but I am getting more comfortable with it.

Some updates. Trying to learn all the things. Edge control, anatomy, light. (also workflows) So damn confusing.

Bravely Default (or possibly Second) study, to figure out their style
Same, but this is a freeze frame from the Wakfu animated series
I designed my own Skullgirl too.
Vadasi from Gigantic. This is her intro from the animated overview page.
And a pixel art verion of Aisling
And a design of my own to top it off (I think this one turned out rather good
Looking forward to your crits.
