Hey Polycount,
Currently working on a project where my only reference material is Google maps. I'm modelling the Console Panel from TARDIS in Doctor Who. It's been a lot of work and the console has a few tricky shapes to deal with such as levers, knobs, dials, etc, but this one in particular has thrown me a bit with the transition.
Reference imagery:

If anyone has the time to demonstrate how to model the metal lever part that would be great. I'm struggling with the part I've circled in red, where the cylinder transitions into the box-ish shape.
I've made a few attempts but quite frankly they're a complete mess and don't smooth at all correctly.
Again I apologise if the reference imagery isn't great. Hopefully it's enough for someone to demonstrate from.

Much thanks!

Go to the last one in the Primers section, Per's collection. In there he has wires that show how to get this exact transition.
All of that reference material is awesome Eric - thanks a bunch.
The hex nut shape is probably a separate object in real life, so it's better to make objects like these separate in your model too.
