3DS Ribbon UI question

I'm following a basic Lynda tutorial and the guy doesn't say how to set up the Ribbon UI like how he has it (his looks more accessible than mine). How do I set mine up to look like his? Here is an image of what I mean:

Press the little down arrow after the word "Populate"

This lets you toggle the size of the Ribbon.

When I clicked that I got these options (http://i.imgur.com/hVwD3Hv.jpg). But none of them allowed my Ribbon interface to be as extensive as his. I am a noob at this, so there could be a number of things I am missing.

Oh I figured it out by accident. I accidentally double-clicked the Modelling tab on the Ribbon and it extended everything properly. Happy accident it seems.

Thane-

The ribbon and the command panels having a few bits of different unique functionality such that i need to have them both visible is so damn annoying. Hope they go with one or the other soon.
