The 3D artist community has evolved so much in the past few years that we think software distribution should reflect these changes. Introducing Substance LIVE, a new rent-to-own licensing system. Coming later this week
Hows it going to be with new versions? Paid upgrades?
Regular updates are free of course, major upgrades can be paid through the same process when it is available.
If an upgrade is released while you are still paying for the previous version, you can choose to keep your monthly payments until you own the current version, or you can convert 50% what you paid already towards the new release.
Example: You paid $200 of the $320 for the Indie version when a new upgrade comes out.
You can convert 50%, so $100 towards the newer version.
You end up paying $420 instead of the regular $450 (300+150) you would have spent through the regular payment. And of course you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to.
We tried to be as fair as possible in every situation
It will be a monthly pack of free substances. Depending on what we work on internally, it could be materials, filters, mask generators, or something completely different each month
Okies thanks for the info
happy gdc to all you fine folks.
don't forget to post pix n vidz for all who is there in heart n soul,
but physically has to work (¤¿¤)
Sorry to bring this up again, but just to clarify, if we already own all three softwares (I have SD5, SP, and B2M 2 [not 3]), will we be still eligible for the monthly substance drop?
Replies
I am pumped. Can't wait for March, the month of substance
Substance LIVE goes...live... later this week!
Does this also apply as an option to purchase the substance database?
Cheers,
~Tung
What if you own all apps already?
Can you still get the services.
@xChris: There is a small additional cost if you go through the monthly payments ($20 for the Indie version, $40 for the Pro).
@Bertmac: Existing owners of all the apps will be "upgraded" to a LIVE account and have access to all the services, yes.
