SOLVED: AO-map turning black

everytime im importing an ao-map into dDo it turns almost completly black. does anyone know what could be wrong?
the exported map and while inside dDo the ao-map looks like below
while the imported ao-map looks like this:

Hi!
What image format are you using? Try a flattened PNG with no transparency and see if that helps!

ive been using tga and tiffs. tried a png but no difference im afraid

even if i dont add an ao-map, quixel itself creates a black ao-map that causes the entire model to become very dark in 3Do unless i turn the slider all he way to the left or delete the map.
is there some setting somewhere that i might have missed?

3Do was creating an undefined black layer in AO, turning that off solves it
