I working a HD model of Beatrix from FF9. The shots I have planned will show off the detail in the character and her weapon. The question I have is how to go about modeling the ornamental part of the hilt. I using 3DS Max for basic shapes and Zbrush for sculpting. I have the part in question circled in red below.

Once you're where you want to be, retopologize for a clean mesh. Crease the edges you want, or add control loops in another program. Mak sure there are clean quads.
Also if you're going to model it in zbrush then model it in pieces
how long would it take you to do that in a clean manner?
feels like an insane waste of time to do such a shape in zbrush
i don't get what there is to figure out. everything is on that concept it would take possibly 10 min to model this
to me its a waste of time, but i would really like to know how the zbrushers here would do it and how fast and clean the result will be
