I thought of doing this before but felt it was a tad egotistical doing a recording of my own process, like, who would watch it lol! but if you think it would help you in anyway i could maybe do it when i get on with the pillars. Do u know of a particularly good free programme i could use?

The good news is you are pretty far along! The scene is looking really great. You can def finish. Art is never done, but you will have a nice scene for sure.

I did try to record my progress on the pillars but I get so paranoid that I work in some crazy backwards way. Sorry to disappoint anyone. Maybe when I am more confident.
holy shit...dude, that's some badass entry you have really. My only critic would be that you have too many pipes on your designs, like the ceiling piece could be a piece on it's own Imo.
Wow, just wow. I really want to see how those flag will fit in the scene. You have a strong atmosphere and your model are perfect. I can't wait to see the final shot, this is almost my favorite
@orb: thanks! I get the same feels as you though. Think I'm going to remove it from running up the sides of the stairs and have them completely pipe less. That may tone it down a little. Pipes were a main theme idea for the room but I get what u mean about overdooing it.
I really enjoy how these materials, pipes...metal stuff looks like...but I see a design problem here. It does not seem like a throne room of a galaxy emperor...it looks more like an engine room of some space industrial facility...otherwise the visual is stunning

Amazing hardsurface modelling ! The scene composition is also quite impressive. I only think the outside view is a little too over the top though. In your last screenshots it felt overladen imho. I think the vast windows should be used as a way to counterbalance the complexity of the rest of the scene.
Finals. I decided to leave it here as I began adding things for the hell of it and wasnt sure if I was doing more harm than good. Anyways these are my final submissions.

Yeah, soften it up a little with a few flags/banners with a nice color pop and wow.
@WarrenM: Thats exactly the plan. Just need to spend enough time learning substance.
