Hi guys!
It has been a while since I last posted my work, but seeing as I've just finished a massive project, I thought I'd share it here!
It's an homage to one of my favourite games, 'Bully' by Rockstar Games. I'd love to see a second game in the franchise, so I figured it would be a fitting project. It serves as a demonstration of prop art skills, as I've made everything in the scene from scratch.
It's my first project with Unreal Engine 4, and I'm really pleased with how it has turned out. I'm currently working on some production breakdown sheets, so more to come!
There's also a few more screenshots on my
website.
Thanks for looking!

I like the bedroom in particular; great attention to detail in all of the props.
You're missing out man, just picture grand theft auto on a school campus and you have bully.
As for this environment, really well done I must say. Great job and effort
@whats_true Thank you, my modelling and texturing is improving, and I love spending ages working out little narrative behind each prop, so I'm really glad you picked up on it! Ah the wallpaper is one of my favourite features too, I was really happy with how it turned out.
Thanks, and I agree! It's such a fun game; and still stands up by today's standards.
@j.pears - I sure hope so! It would be really nice to get some industry recognition, especially from Rockstar! Thanks!
Awesome Stuff!
@shinobix - No way! That's awesome, I'm a massive fan of the game, so it's a huge compliment to hear you like it! Thanks!
The wooden doors above look a bit flat, might need some roughness maps/specular tweaks, also this brick wall doesn't look to convincing, maybe make the bump a bit stronger?
Only a couple of small nitpicks like maybe the fire alarm could of used a bit more geometry than a normal mapped box in comparison to everything else, or the hallways looking great when looking at the side walls but maybe touching up the architecture or lighting/ceiling light models/etc to create a bit more interest when looking straight down the hall.
But this is mostly just in comparison of how visually interesting you made the rooms themselves, awesome work!
@Deathstick - Thank you! I spent a long time on the lighting, so I'm glad it reads well. Yes that's a good point, I did find it tricky to fill the corridors (you can tell by the knocked over bin haha). I appreciate the crit, I'll definitely keep that in mind for my future work!
@Chantel-sky - Thanks! I'd highly recommend it, it's brilliant fun!
@Candy Stripes05 - I'm really glad that it appeals to fellow fans of the game; I wanted to bring a sense of nostalgia to other players, so that's really great to hear
Just wanted to say this looks great! Wooo Nice work!
You're welcome! Feel free to ask about anything else if you think I can help.

Good job!
@mospheric - Wow that's so cool! Thanks a lot for the heads up!
@shinobix - Amazing! It's so rewarding for the hours I've spent making it. Thanks for the link!!
@deadpixl - Thanks! Ah good spot, I figured it'd be quite far from the camera, so I could've maybe done with reviewing it after adding my cinematic camera paths. Any crit is welcome, so thanks for that too.
I'll be uploading more as they come, here and my website. If you need to see higher resolution versions, you can download them from my imgur.
Here's the first couple, enjoy!
Could you point to some nice resources on UE4 shading?
Any chance of showing the modelling process of the crest? Or posting the resources you used to learn how to model it?
Cheers!
Dan
@JVoye - Thank you! I spent ages trying to make the details pop (as that's something my work previously lacked) so it's really nice to hear that it comes across.
@Dan Powell - Hey Dan, I actually referred to Scott Homer's filigree documentation in his Harry Potter spell-book PDF. I basically took what he wrote in there and applied it to the original crest, whilst making alterations to the design. It's all edge modelling; taking a plane and extruding edges into the desired shape. I've also Turbosmoothed the lot.
Other than that it was largely experimental. Some of the techniques I may have picked up from an Audi modelling tutorial I tried a while ago; although I cannot recall exactly what it covers. Hope this helps!
Congratulations.
Here's a couple more pages. Not sure how useful/interesting these are, but I thought I'd share them as I'm making them anyway.
Seriously impressive, still reading through your stuff!
Thanks! Haha, only one more semester to go. I hope it comes of some use/interest!
thanks for posting those breakdowns/pages
@shinobix - Hey, I'm a huge fan of their work, but I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing immediately after uni. Is there any chance you could give me a bit of an insight as to what it's like to work there?
A lot of people talk a lot of smack about R*, and even though I no longer work there and it was grueling and tough... Some of my best industry memories are from there. Work hard / Play hard.
