Hey Guys! This is a character I created and have submitted for a Uni assignment based in a Steam-punk 'Wind in the Willows Universe'. This is my Mr Badger from that universe...
the polycount on those bricks are way too dense... You could achieve similar results with just the normal map alone.. i'd cut them down for sure and the corners are too rounded... bricks don't curve like that unless they were deliberately manufactured that way for a special cause but the standard wall will just be it's 90 degree angle with a small bevel.
Also adding to Nastobi123's post, there's not much narrative to the general concept. From just jotting down what we see, there's nothing that interlinks into each other as to why and what this is...
- It's a badger humanoid
- it's got laser like weapons
- he's running which implies something's happening or just about to happen
- he's on a street corner (although the bricks on the floor suit more of a ruins environment
There isn't much that makes sense.. imo
I understand you've told us the concept in the post but work should be able to speak for itself without having to have a label stamped across it etc...
Execution wise you've demonstrated you can do this... just definitely take a little more thought back into the concept itself... also not hinting you shouldn't carry on with this, it's definitely got potential.. so realistically you can still fix this by just fixing up the backdrop / background that your character is sitting on... it's meant to be steam punk right? go build something cool! an all out steam punkish backdrop... don't waste such a good opportunity to do it even if it is an old project that's ended
