Looking to get better at modeling in Max and become proficient at texturing in Photoshop. Planning to use this place a dump for all my stuff and hopefully get crits and help from more experienced modelers and artists along the way. Cheers!
Right now I'm attempting to make a map similar to the one from MGS1 Cyborg Ninja VR Mission.
My goal for this model is the learn how create environment textures that complement each other and have a unified aesthetic. I'm attempting to use a combination of modular modeling/map and texture design to help mask the repetition and re-use of a few modular texture pieces.
I turned off filtering in the viewport because I'm specifically going for that grainy low-res texture look.
I've subdivided the entire map into 1x1 unit squares to help keep everything proportional and aligned. Just used basic extrudes for the level, and then subdividing the 1x1 unit squares as needed for further fidelity when modeling.
