SpitFire Plane - need some c&c needs improvements

i'm making the plane spitfire for a small project where u can fly it around and shoot things. i have gotten the basic shape of the plane.

the plane is going to be somewhat low poly and will need parts that can move like the flaps.

i need some ideas on how i can implement the landing gear and guns and other things that i might have missed???

this is the plane i plan to model

    Hey there,

You're off to a good start but I would suggest you work a bit more on the basic shape as there are a few things that seem to be wrong to me.

the cockpit is a lot further back than you have it.
the back of the wing is a lot more curved where it meets up with the body of the plane.
the top point of the tail is a lot sharper in the image.
the body looks a bit thin to me from the top view.
the blades of the propellor should be a lot thicker.

these are a few things that are sticking out to me. I would suggest that you gather some more reference images so you can get a better idea of the general shapes. Also I would suggest to find some blueprints of the plane so it is a lot easier to get the dimensions correct.

Keep posting and working on it. you're on the right path :)

    Fill your boots :)

The aircraft in your pic is a Mk.XVI btw, as it happens I used to see that exact aircraft in it's former life as a gate guardian.

thank you for that site and the name of the aircraft, i was getting worried that i might never know the true name of what plane i was modeling.

i will be sure to make it look good for you haha, besides the crash sending me far back

the-blueprints.com is indeed the best place to get them.

seeing as you have to start again anyway, let me give you some tips. you built the body of your plane out of 1 solid mesh. It is fine to use multiple seperate meshes. this should make some things a lot easier. also, look into using curves to easily create smooth surfaces. finally dont worry about polycount as you can always remove polies easily. it is much harder to add them later if you end up needing them.

also, post the reference you end up using. its important that you use as may images as you can from the same kind of plane. It is fine to use reference from different planes for sections that you cant find reference for on your own type. but try to stick to the same or it can end up giving you a headache trying to figure out which image is accurate
