This is a quick project that I took 4 days to make from scratch. I aimed for a cartoony look with emphasis on particles (particles made with Blender's particle effects. I also experimented with normal mapped mirror surfaces.
On the subject itself, I wanted to portray lakeside beaches that are found in Finland, in a sort of exaggerated scale.

They are slightly different, the Sims 3 being cartoony-realism/ie more noisy in their texture work due to the wide variety of patterns, and their natural environments more closely mimic realism, and the Sims 4 which places more emphasize on clean, hand-painted aspects with a little more relaxed texture noise so the geometric shapes themselves carry more weight.
Both might work for inspiration as to what your trying to accomplish, just depends on taste.
I'd also think a bit more about how the structures themselves would actually be made in real life. More specifically, the dock. Currently it looks like you have a large solid board underneath the planks, which I think kind of defeats the purpose of having planks. The board underneath the planks should be a supporting structure, not the structure itself. (IE, they'd be more likely to be two planks running perpendicular to the top planks which are nailed into it, rather than what you currently have now.)
It would also be beneficially to have some of those planks and boards warping a bit and offsetted. As of right now they are "perfect," which is an easy way to make something look artificial, especially docks which by their very nature tend to be in some sort of disarray. It also does you no favors to have something with perfect edges surrounded by an organic environment, so I'd work on the shapes as well as the texturing.
Best of luck!
