If you look through his post history he also created three different threads (two within 4 days of each other) for the one prop. 1,2,3. Seems a bit rude, especially if you end up wasting peoples time getting repeated critiques. Quit the nonsense, it won't do you any favours in the long run.
What's the point in having some obscure (bad) inside joke on a t shirt? If I'm going to spend money on a printed tee I'd get something with cool art on it or a Polycount t-shirt.
Christian, I think if you for sure want to sell a bunch of Tshirts that reference 3D game artistry, it would help to go a more visual route.
Do a cool graphic, something that somehow encompasses all the hard work that goes into just making one asset.
If we want to make it funny still, maybe make a riff on "This is how many artists work on one rock asset." And have a rock split vertically into sections, transitioning in gradients between concept art, sculpt, wireframe, VFX, etc.
Just overall think fashionably. What would you wear to a date, or to a social function like GDC that works well with other pieces of clothing like jeans, shits, ascots, etc.
People were much less critical of these jokes when they were written back in 2009.
Well they weren't talking about paying for them on shirts.. And if anyone is curious/lazy, here is the OP of that thread.
I was having friendly debate with a friend awhile back, childish immature stuff but we were both kidding at the end of the day. And thinking back to the insults we threw back and forth, I was slightly amused
We're doing this one again? I'm telling you, make a shirt with somebody or something pissing on the Autodesk logo and you'll be raking in millions of dollars a year. Use that money to buy out Autodesk and force even more stupid decisions onto your customers. This will cause the the value of each shirt to go up and people will likely want to purchase 3-4 more despite already owning one.
Sorry guys, If I wasted your time my bad. I thought I was being clever, Didn't realize how much hate I would create. But here is an image of the highest vote.
I was under the impression that you should try to work with as little geometry as possible in order to block out the forms of a mesh before subdividing. You might be able to sell more units if the model on the shirt was more detailed to imply that you are ready to begin subdividing the mesh. I'm not an expert in business, but I think a penis tank planted right in the middle would do the trick.
Christian, I gotta be honest, and I'm being deadly serious here.
What's the intention with the shirt? Mass market or just a couple friends?
As well, I understand that PC has gotten nasty about responding to your poll. We shouldn't have communicated our thoughts that way, it's not loving or constructive.
I'm hoping that last response isn't sarcastic, because I'm scared if you come off as aloof and a bit biting towards others, it may subtly hurt other people's perceptions of you as a fellow developer, as well as color bad feelings vice versa. Trust me, it's screwed me over before, and I want to make it sure it doesn't hurt others as well.
I just wanted to make a t-shirt that fellow 3D artists would wear. I love my craft, so I wanted to show it on a t-shirt. Just like people wear Call Of Duty apparel why cant artist support there love as well. Apparently all I crated was hate.
I get what you're coming from. I love my craft too. That's why I proudly wear my polycount t-shirt form time to time.
The idea of making a shirt that is an inside-joke for 3d artists is well and good, and I fully understand that. The only 'hate' is coming from the juvenile slogans and actual content/designs of the t-shirt, not the idea itself. A lot of people would probably be totally be on board to buy a clever 3d art related t-shirt, but throwing a few buzzwords and an insult on a t-shirt isn't going to get you a lot of support.

Stop being an ass and making these dumb threads.
Also, I am here for the replies to this thread. Now those make me laugh .
^^ So much this. It must be possible to come up with something that's funny and relevant, without being abusive or insulting.
pretty much sums it up.
Just, no.

Haters are going to hate, have a nice day.
Now that I would buy and never wear.
Why not "SubDivide and Conquer"
Plus the font blows
Same time next week different thread , Christian?
"For whom who want to express there love of 3D via there apparel."

So... everyone?
