Im creating a simple wood carving element but i get this wierd issue with my lowpoly mesh as seen in the picture below
I have tried any smoothing group, auto-smooth etc. Changing smoothing groups does not alter the look of the model so im trying to think there is something else wrong. I get the same kind of issue when i bake it out, normal map has seams.

I would try Edit Triangulation in the Edit Poly modifier.
If that doesn't improve things you could have a play around with the Edit Normals modifier.
