I'm a 2D artist in games, advertising, books and everything that's fun, and now trying to gain foothold as dota cosmetic creator.
I got introduced by Tidal Craftsman one year ago and since then made a couple of loadingscreens for other artists and concepts and 3d work with Tidal.
great loading screens, love the dynamic painterly style. The items though, I feel that they need more detail (texture and concept) and try to have a story behind. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback and input, people!
I hope too the logoscreens gets in the game sometime... but wouldn't bet on it.
So, I'm working on this boy here and would like to hear some thoughts on it. It's my first set, and I hope I didn't make too many technical mistakes, if any. At least the polycount is within limits.
The textures are only bakes to test the colors and their destribution. Nothing is painted or refined yet.
edit: Forgot to add: I'm not satisfied with the hair part of the head and consider making an alternative style with some kind of samurai helmet. What do you think?

Wonderful stuff, mate! I love your loading screens! I love the ES the way he is. Don't do the samurai helmet.
Nice! Fortunately it's different enough from mine.
Shoulder/neck has only LOD1 300/ LOD0 400 Polys. Gotta watch out that the bull heads don't get too clunky.
Yeah, I think it's better, too! The ONLY problem that I saw with the hair style was that is was pointy/triangle-like from the front view. I think this is fixed now. Cheers !
I'd change the colour of the eyes and scroll in the belt to match ES' eyes, and make the scroll paper-coloured or something else more neutral. Perhaps a dark wood/leather? At the moment the colours kinda make it look like a christmas decoration.
Wow this looks really great, for some reason the colors look a bit off to me.
But that might be because the original doesn't have any red colors in it.
Thanks guys!
Yeah, I got the same feeling about the colors. I got a couple of different color variations for the red, because I wasn't sure how to feel about that color for the ES pallette from the beginning... but I will adress that when I am about to finish. All other colors need to balanced more I guess, too. More indepth feedback in that regard is appreciated
Looks great to me man! I'd say the style you have going on is more Diablo III (Grimdark) than WoW (Toon fantasy), which is perfect in my books! Love that shoulder piece.
This looks absolutely jaw-dropping. The new colour scheme fits the hero way better in my opinion. Now if you manage to bring all those little details to the lowpoly versions I think it's safe to say this will be the best set for ES out there by a long shot.
Malloy, hamstock, Automedic- thanks guys! Very encouraging to hear But I'm actually quite happy with it as well.
Max- these are all lowpoly shots, or did you just mixed up terms and meant low res textures? I spent the day the mask and got good results. Here's the shoulder piece in game. Details show quite well (need to resize the model). I also tested the belt which works fine- though some minor details almost get lost, like the dragon heads, but it's not too bad. Gotta watch out next time with these kind of things.
I got problems with the LOD1 staff which didn't work out as planned, so I needed to remove 3 of the nipple thingies. But that should do it too. Back to work.
A update from the mask front. It should be all done now. Not too happy with the seams though, I hope in game they aren't as strong as in marmoset. Skinning is up next. And then the stone summons which I have a unique concept for. Hope it works.
A lot better color sheme indeed, I like it a lot more!
Awesome quality, only affraid those nice details on the weapon will disappear a bit ingame.
But none the less greta job!
imacat0- Yes, but it's on hold due to freelance jobs that turned up and besides that I'm joining the Riot Contest and working on the sketches atm. But almost all items are skinned now. What's left are the summons and the loadingscreen. I hope I can finish this set soon.
Thank you, MagnoHusein. I have no ideal textureing workflow yet, since I'm very new to that part of 3D, expecially the Dota texture style. But as soon I figured it out I will surely make some process shots and show them here.

Posing is done and I'm moving on to final touches and the loadingscreen:
I finally finished my first Dota set! I learned a lot, though missed some opportunities, but oh well.
Any vote is very appreciated! Hope you like it, guys
Looks great, nice use of gold-green, lots of detail, love the asymmetry, the gold ornaments make the set very visible in game, no goat horns.. the only thing I think you could have done better was to have a story to it. Otherwise, one of the best ES sets yet, good job.

Apart from that, though? It's excellent.

Awesome modeling and drawing skills!

Good call getting rid of the red

Alismuffin- And many thanks to you!
Here's a set for Juggernaut by Crowntail for whom I painted the loadingscreen. Hope you enjoy!
A little update on the earth spirit: I will finish it in the next days to submit it for the new bloom.
do you want opponent use midas on you? :v
Creeps need a role model to lead them in battle!
