Some quick silhouette work I did after work today. I thought he could phase in his minions, which are smaller robots with shields and spears. I will keep doing more tonight but any votes on your favorites would help as well as ideas / crits
Decided to make him of an alien race instead of robot, and here's a quick base from last night. The Leader, Azir, will have larger technical pieces / enhancements, like in my silhouette. Still unsure of the Tower though.
Maybe make the shoulder armor like "vents"...slits of metal that can move up and down. Then it would sort of be like the wings in the original but more inline with your concept.
A sick, good idea! I thought about putting vents on the back or the chest, but decided I'll keep the chest for simple shapes. Shoulders could be cool. Thanks Waterbear!
Personally I'm a little confused with such drastic changes to the basic character design. One of his biggest signatures is that he's a bird-dude. That's like making Renekton not an alligator :P
That being said, I think your design could push the silhouette a bit more. Currently everything conforms very closely to his body, feeling more extruded than like separate mechanical plates sitting on top.
Lots of really cool reference in your second post, though, so I'm looking forward to where this ends up!
Ahaha yeah Wells, you are right in saying that it's very far from the original, but going through all riots League of Legend skins, I noticed that they sometimes go very far from the original idea of the character, while keeping some key features.
So I wanted to do exactly that, drastic on the concept change, but keep key features, shoulders, legs, center pieces. I didn't feel like just rehashing an existing skin, wanted to go on the extreme side of a new skin. I think the weapon, and textures will really uniform it as Azir.
But thanks for the comments! and you are right on the armor, I should push it more as armor and not 'skin tight'
So I was MIA cause of personal reasons and work but I've been back at it, finished low poly and bakes. Started Textures, hopefully to have them done and start rigging by sunday. So many amazing entries so far!! I feel like I went to much on the 'see good from afar' aspect. And not enough on the High level of detail like so many other awesome entries.
Lowered the contrast a little during my lunch. I'm really going for readability in game with this guy, but it's still to strong. Only a few days left, ugh

Azir has this ruby in the center of his chest, I thought of making it a breathing apparatus for them since they don't have noses.
