Looking good so far! Her breast might be a little too big and her shins feel too long. The newest face is feeling really good though! I'd like to see it with the hair to get a better feel for it. Keep at it man!
New face looks loads better! I feel like the forehead slopes back slightly too quickly - but other than that really good Love the direction this is going in
Hey guys, been trying to use my free time to chip away at Vi. I realized that her proportions were extremely outta wack and really wasn't getting that Paul Kwon feel so I went back to work on her body some more before moving on. It still has a way to go, but I figured I could ask for some critique! Her head and upper chest feel kind of weird to me, any suggestions guys?
Thank you!
Hey Lazar! Loving this so far! don't get discouraged, you got this!
If I'd give a critique I'd say that all that really needs to be done is adjust some of the proportions. I think you have the jaw and eye shape of the concept but the space in-between her eyes could be widened (1 eye length between the eyes is the rule!) and it looks like the tip of the nose could be wider.
As for the chest i think you have the right shape for the breasts from a front on view, but they're just too big in how far they come off the ribcage. As for the torso shape i think you have it right but it needs alittle more angularity; alittle bit of a sharper turn where the ribs end and again where the obliques start.

Oh man...I made a bigger space between her eyes and it immediately looks so much better!! Also adjusted her nose as well, reads better from far away now
Moving onto adjusting the chest Thank you for your input!
Hey Lazar. This is looking reat and good to see the persavarance throguht the revisions.
If I had a critique or a warning to leave with you, it would be this. In regards to the gloves, the neon stiker is futuristic, slim, sexy, high tech and what not. SO keep in mind the slick curves and such. In the concept art Paul has exagerated teh curvature of these metal gauntlets to help keep the character human looking and sexy, it also helps with the posing and composition. Your gloves (maybe theya re placeholders?) are a bit too blocky and lumpy. These sorts of tech armaments are all about teh general lines and curves (like car design). The arcs used in the gloves help to excentuate the fist and alure to the curves in the female form. The panelling will not distub the form or silhouete of the gloves, more just a surface detial closer to etching than a quilted pillowing look.
Just my 2 cents anyway.
Really liking this thread and look forward to more.
Oh man, I think I may have confused some people. I haven't really touched the gauntlets unfortunately- the shape is just there for reference of size T_T I've been trying to do my best to nail the proportions before moving on to the bigger things
I totes hear you though, and agree with you fully. I'll keep those things in mind when I start working on them "The panelling will not distub the form or silhouete of the gloves, more just a surface detial closer to etching than a quilted pillowing look." pro advice man, thank you. I'm also kind of scared to work on them...for all the reasons you just mentioned..lol. Making them organic and flow with her shape is going to be tough
Teriyakistyle- oh man...havent even thought about that...hmmm..maybe!!!

Ha no worries. Yea I was wondering if they were place holder or not. Don't worry about them so much. Just think of them as a primitive that needs a quick detail pass for the pannels. Judging by the rest of your wips, you will totally be fine
Sweet! So I worked on her body a little more and started over on her hair ^__^ I touched the gauntlets ever so slightly and made the general boot shape. Hopefully tomorrow I can spend some quality time with her hands and shoes so they don't look so blobby!
Reading this thread reminded me how tricky stylized girls are to make, lots of tweaking proportions but it paid off, the body looks much more relaxed now! This is going to be be awesome, would be nice to see the face with the eyes in there too :>
So after many hours of noodling around and messing with shapes/trial and error..ing.....I decided to go back to square one. I wanted to do my best to follow the initial concept of Neon Strike Vi. I still need to crisp and finish a few things here and there and decide what to do about her pink glasses/headgear.
After that it's off to the retop tomorrow!
I made her glasses and put them on her head..but it really breaks the shape of her hair..so i dont know if i should stick to the previous idea with goggles or do my best to stick to the concept. I'll post another picture to see what you guys think. I need to put a little bit more time into her arms as well and make sure they look clean and crisp. Her shoes look kinda weird too..haha!!
If you guys have time for any crits, please feel welcome to drop a line. I would really appreciate it. After looking through all my old WIPs I wanted to drop down and die hahahaha. I may not see the problem areas after looking at it for so long </3
Neer- Thanks mate! I'm actually having a ton of fun with this hair. I openly admit the other hair was really hard for me to understand and grasp. So I'm happy to hear this one is working out
Wow, great update! The hair polypaint is super striking (!) I love that colour. Would be really cool to see you do some stuff with a darker to lighter gradient going towards the tip of the hair too! Are you thinking of adding any flyaway strands at lowpoly?
As for crits, I think on your last image the hair silhouette on the right is much stronger than the one on the far left - I think that chunk of hair next to the ear needs to be a bit thicker and frame her face more. Its so minor but it leapt out at me! Hopefully that makes sense.
future-fiction- Thank you! I was trying to pick a material that was absurdly saturated haha! Kinda looks like a jelly bean though xD I'll definitely be doing a dark to light gradient on the hair when I texture the lowpoly (if I put anymore time into the polypaint I'll be here for days hahaha)
I totally see what you mean about the left picture. I agree. I'll tinker with the left side of her hair a bit Thank you for pointing that out!!!
Totes been stalking your Ahri post by the way
I agree with you, I'm not crazy keen on the glasses when looking at her from face level, HOWEVER, I feel they add quite a lot when looking at her from the isometric kind of view. I'd keep them, but maybe work into them somehow to make them look better from the front. They might be a little high on her head? Hard to say.
Anyway, she's looking great overall! Nice progress! (loving the hair btw )
This is looking good! Are you gonna refine her arms/hands? The sculpt looks really soft for something mechanical. Also, I would make one of her hands(or both) have that opened look like in the concept. The original Vi has so much awesomeness in her hands and really takes her over the top. I think this version is too simplistic unless you have her hands open mechanically like in the concept. Looking forward to more!
Thank you guys for the all the crits! I ended up spending more time refining her hands and other bits of hard surface. Also kept the glasses but rounded them on her head more. (no more time..gotta move on!)

Scythe- Thanks man!!! I've been religiously studying his pepper and remi pictures!!
Sukotto- thank you!
C.K.Shepherd- That really means a lot, I appreciate it. Thank you very much I hope it turns out okay!

I would put the superman emblem above her butt to make it more sexy.
