Looking to join real life clubs

So I'm having trouble searching online for clubs and groups and stuff. Specifically I want to meet similarly-minded people interested in art, graphic design, computer art, that sort of thing. I googled some terms but really got the phone book. I mean what do i search for? "Group activities finder?" That really doesn't get me the results I want. I want fairly local events at peoples houses or a library, university, things like that. How would you search for that or do you guys know of any apps, websites I might use?

Well, there's meetup.com. Found some stuff through there before.

Many universities still use actual bulletin boards for that sort of thing as well -- if you're close to one, you might stop in to the student center and have a look.

yeah go to a university and ask around art students.
from personal experience though i´ve learnt that there isn´t realy anyone left interested in lifedrawing, claysculpting and such things outside of the CG community.

University idea seems good. I'm not keen on asking current students, but I will contact professors and such

You could probably start by searching for the closest life drawing class in your area.

In my experience, Art supply shops often either have a bulletin board, or a whole lot of pamphlets on the counter etc advertising drawing groups / classes, sculpting classes etc.

Just to add to the university suggestion, you can create your own club. I don't know about other universities, but my university requires at least 5 members to create a club. They also pay you an allowance.
