finished the model yesterday and started painting today. at this point its mostly base colors.

Very cool! How have you determined the light source? It seems there are some inconsistencies with the lighting on the eyebrows but given the concept, it's a hard one.

You could also chunk up some parts, mainly the eyebrows, the gold bits along the sides of his head and his hair stands out as not being quite chunky enough but again it may be because the concept has a pose with perspective distorting these details so I could just be perceiving it differently.
