That's like saying handheld PCs (PDAs) already failed, so smart phones wouldn't ever work. I'm still waiting for the killer VR app or game, VR really needs its own Halo or Wii Sports.
I agree there's a lot of content for VR that are dead end gimmicks and failed experiments, like 3d movies and TV, but there's content and experiences that are worth the extra cons that come with VR. Social experiences, feeling present in environments (video or 3d), as a creative mediums and 1:1 hand tracking, cockpit experiences, etc. If you are into racing games, VR is the cheaper and better option compared to a surround monitor setup.
What my mates in Hollywood think of VR. I just said yo Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, James Cameron, Guillermo Del Toro, Eli Roth, The Russo Brothers, Justin Lin and Jon Favreau
Plots of VR land originally sold for $800 are already reselling for $180,000 so I thought I would post this as its quite a unique project in a largely untested market.
Investors are spending real money to buy land in a new city that only exists in virtual reality. Buyers can build whatever they want on their plots in Decentraland. Many hope to make a profit trading goods and services in the virtual world's own crypto currency. But will Decentraland be an online utopia or a cyber slum?
