Hello folks! I'll be making a helm and a maul. I'm using several different references and helmet styles but I'll be gearing my overall design towards the European Great Helm.
I'm super stoked for the contest, definitely going to be a lot of fun! Already seeing some awesome pieces!
I found a site that has a ton of info on medieval armor and helms specifically. It also lists the time period that some pieces were used in, what the piece is called, who wore it, etc! Great if you want to have another reference with historical info!

Does it have an ambient occlusion map yet? It'll add some nice shadows to the back of the helmet, below the horns, and then combine it with your diffuse map.
It does have an AO map on it but some parts are not reading particularly well. I will have to go through and edit this further.

Also, if you continue the middle crease down the z-axis of your helmet to the very back edge of your helmet, I think you'll find that it looks more solid.
Weapon: looks way too fantasy for me I would consider reshaping the animal head so it looks less like a skull if you what I mean

Great note with the crease zetheros, definitely comes across as a more sturdy helm.
Going to try and get this weapon working before the deadline is up!
I think I am happy with the blockout for this now. Going to spend the next few days working on the high poly and getting my maps together. Going to try to bust this out out before the deadline!
