Thanks! I am still thinking on the best way to do the feathers, to make them metalic or actual feathers. Since the rules say you can't use opacity maps.... not sure yet
I think I have the sculpt pretty much done. If anyone has critiques, that would be great, otherwise I will start moving on to the low poly. Also... did not realize the weapon set needed a shield... TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!! I'll get one figured out
I like it!
I'm not sure how, or if it will look good, but maybe curve the feathers in such a way that you can see them a little better from the front? Just a thought.

Quick update to the helmet. I have the low poly at exactly 1200 tris which is the limit (unless I am mistaken.... Anyway, I think I will be moving on to the weapon and maybe a shield and texture them all at once just so I can move between color studies and such at the same time.
Its too bad the helmet is only limited to only 1200 tris...I can see the 5000 tri limit on the weapons being too high and the helmet too low. But aside from that, the holes on the mask can use a bevel so it bakes down well enough to show in the diffuse cause the game doesn't support alpha masks.
I think I see some UV overlap from here. Might want to give some space for padding, these will very likely get scaled down for LOD models. You'll definitely get some bleed then.
@Noth, good eye! Now that I look at it, that is actually an old UV set! I had noticed that when I was stitching together my bakes and had reconfigured the UVs. But I will go ahead and do a couple compression test to make sure that even at a compressed LOD, it still looks good. Thanks!
Just started my sword. Getting a good block out going. Have a couple of ideas but not sure which one I want to go with so I will play around a bit... Suggestions would be appreciated
- I would just go with a flat side and some nice ingravings instead
-It would be cool to have a lions head as the pommel so it matches the helmet.
Something like this.
-Perhaps the hilt needs some more characteristics aswel like in your reference art work you provided. 1 lion head on each side of the hilt would be pretty cool.
- Some kind of ingravings would be realy nice touch
@Sophax! Thanks for the input. I think I will be trying something different with the blade. I have been wanting to put some lions heads on there so I think I have an idea for putting them on the sides. Might have to sketch it out really quick.
Decided to go back to the drawing board and sketch out a couple more ideas for the hilt and pommel. I think I have a better direction as to where I want to go now.
Thanks, Notes! Understandable, I was playing with a bunch of different blade designs. I just felt drawn to having that little swoosh in it. If I don't like it, should be really easy to change.
Just got my retop finished. A bit over 3k but well below the 5k. Thinking about adding in some more polys for the Agathian cross on the guard as right now it would just be baked into the normal. Suggestions?
Just got my bakes done for the sword. I think I might texture them and then move onto a shield if I have time..... Or maybe just move onto a shield... not sure..
I think you should totally knock out the helmet and sword. They are really solid and if you get them all textured and in engine you don't have to worry about running out of time and rushing your primary submission.
But that's just my opinion. Great work so far!

Yeah that's how I kind of feel about it..... I need to go get a copy of Chivalry first though to get all that imported and checked out.
So would anyone out there be able to give me some help getting stuff in engine. Do I need to have Chivalry downloaded and installed first and then open some of it's content in UDK or something? And do I have to have a certain version of UDK installed as I have one a bit older? Any help would be great thanks!

The helmet looks really cool already though!

A shield is not necessary to make a 'complete' set, you just need to make a helmet and sword for a set
Lucas Annunziata - Thanks! If there's time maybe I'll do one anyway
(nice job!)
mr.craft Thanks! I'll do what I can and hope for the best!

@soulstice Thanks! I'll keep doing my best
Not realy a fan of the dips in the blade either

I favor 2 and 3 for that cool cross guard design.
Thanks! I'll have to go check out how to import these so I'll hit up the tut page. Still working on the shield concept at the mo!
Thanks, Keen! Gotta keep trucking if I want all of it done. I would like to do a couple more items for the contest if there's time.
But that's just my opinion. Great work so far!
