Hey there,
I'm practicing a lot of sculpting lately and i need some feedback. So feel free to post your opinion on the sculpt and hopefully what i could change or improve.
The lips sit flat my friend. It helps to barrel out the mouth shape and then dig in the corners deep. Don't be afraid to use dam_standard and really get in there. The pinch and polish to get your planes right, in the mouth area and others.
This gets repeated a lot around here, but always try to squeeze as much as you can from the lowest resolution possible before you step it up, this applies to dynamesh as well, otherwise you start to get lumpy or lose form.
Planes are incredibly important when sculpting. Hell, painting or sculpting, it only matters how the light plays on the surface. That is the information our brains process before probably anything else.
check some of this out, apply it to your work, study it my friend
Also, use reference and don't be afraid to "ruin" a good sculpt with bad ears, at least you practiced them, and having even nubs there helps the silhouette so go for it!
I also see that you've applied some anatomy, go study ecorche and anatomy, have some anatomy pics open while you sculpt, it really does help.
Thanks a lot for the help and the links.
I will keep this thread updated with my progress. I will work through the links you gave me and post some updates later.
Thanks for your reply. I experimenting a lot with the "Planes of the Head" thing and I am sculpting after these References right now. I thought until I have my sculpt ready I will share these, maybe someone else needs them
And here is a link to a Site where all these images can be downloaded.
Ah I remember that head. My first assignment in the intro to sculpting class. Had to sculpt one for mid term Didn't know the instructor wanted it life size, mine was only 6 inches tall. Great reference, you'll learn a ton!
