maya doesn't remember hotkey preferences

I just tried to assign a few custom hotkeys in maya but when i close and reopen the application, the custom hotkeys are not there anymore. Maya reverts back to its default. I am using student version 2015 in ubuntu. everything else works fine.

fixed - it seems that I had to load maya as administrator. so changing prefs folder permissions or using maya as admin (sudo maya in terminal) might help if u run into something similar.

Have you checked the write privileges for the location/file for the preferences?
[username]/Maya/ by default.

Also, in previous versions, certain hotkeys that had menu accelerators tended to work a little wonky.
