Hey everyone, I was wondering what the process to assign a different material for each sub objects is. I've seen it done, but can't seem to find a help page on it.

Thanks

Would probably help us if you told us which program you're using...

Select your Subtool, then your material and then the color you want. Then... at the top, make sure the MRGB button is pressed, its close to Zadd and Zsub.

Finally, go to the top menu "Color", and select Fill object. This will make that specific material and color stick with the subtool unless you change it and press Fill Object again.

This thread is old but my problem is up to date :D

My goal is to export one obj file with 2 subtools
(each with a different material), to later import it into Substance painter.

When i repeat this steps above mentioned from "AlphaMix",
in Substance Painter when i select the "Mesh" it shows the two subtools in the 3d-view
but still only one material in the "texture set list"

hi dont want to use another program (like blender) only for this purpose... does anyone know what i am doing wrong here?

Just to answer my own question:
2 subtools with its own polygroup, than we can "polypaint from polygroup", export it, thats it :)
