Heya,
I've been spending some time working on a personal project I'd like to call Clutch. A lot of stuff is still pretty rough, but I wanted a place to post my progress as I go through it. The plan is to include a mix of game art and concept/illustrations for both characters and environments.
Just wanted to clarify that there was some changes in the style/proportions between the concept and modeling stage of Clutch.
As of right now, the end result for this project is to make them in the oldschool painting style. I made a highpoly version both for practice and just in case I want do a 3d print in the future.

Dog Squad Concept

Hope ya guys like it, more to come in the near future!

Can't wait to see the other characters
This looks promising! And like a fun project to work on. I'll keep an eye on this... for sure.
Personally I like the right char, he looks like a deadly conbination between a drunk dwarf and crazy racoon (in a good way of course :P)
also, just my two cents, the heels on the "girl's" shoes look a bit flimsy, I'd expect them to break at any given time.
Great start, can't wait to see what's next
Direwolf - I agree! When I get to the shader stage hopefully all of that will be cleared up! Thanks for the feedback.
Fenyce/lotlet/komaokc - Thanks, glad you like it!
Puffs - Yeah the pug is planned to have a crazy type of personality where he just loves to blow stuff up. Clutch will constantly have to watch over him to make sure hes behaving on their missions
Did some more progress on this project. Wrapped up the main character and his weapon for now.
I also did a sketch of a critter/squirrel that could live in a desert environment.

I also have a Gumroad tutorial planned to show my process on texturing Clutch's weapon. Hope to have that posted soon, thanks!
I want it !!!!
my only complaint is that maybe the weapon looks too similar to the starcraft 2 marine weapon, and combined with a similar bulky armor design, it kinda feels too related but thats being picky
The dynamite of the one guy could be bone shaped that be a nice touch ; )
dragonar, magihat - Really happy that there is some people interested in it, should be up really soon! Will post a link in this thread when it goes live, thanks for your interest!
Shrike - Yeah I hear ya man! I plan to make many more guns for this character, will see what I can do to push the differences. Thanks for the feedback.
I got around to finishing up the Gumroad tutorial based off of texturing Clutch's weapon.
If you enjoy it, please share with others who may be interested!

Thanks everyone!
pmiller001 - Which partner are you referring to? Trying to decide which one to make next
For me, I'm never quite sure when to separate and peg pieces, or when to add support tubes for printing purposes.
Brian - I think dustin worded it best. It is kind of a case by case depending on who you go with for your print. The place that printed it for me was Factor 31. I pretty much just handed them my highpoly, which consisted of 50ish different objects just clipped into each other, and they printed it out fairly easily. They said it was one of the easiest prints they've ever had to do, I was kind of surprised lol. I'm not sure what they did on their end, but thats what the process was like for me.
This will be the antagonist for the story. He is the dictator of the opposing faction to the dog squad. I envision him playing dirty and unfair. A possible idea is having to fight him while hes in a giant mech of some sort. Will try to flesh that concept out next.
Thanks for looking!
I love that small pug
Dennispls - Yeah haha its been buried for awhile. Will try to get more solid progress on the project. Thanks man!
Ged - Thank you Ged!
TomGT - Thanks!!
linkov - Haha yeah I hear ya, I have some ideas for the cat crew. Definitely an assassin, a feral brute/tank, and also bounced ideas of a psycho mantis style cat. Need to think about him some more though, should be fun!
Deathstick - Yeah man, I played around with that idea quite a bit. I definitely want there to be some sort of crossing over between the factions. Thanks for your input!
Loving the designs and concepts.
But good stuff!
I vote for the Pouncer or Catnip 9000 myself
Only part I'm curious about is how would it be animated and what would its movement be like? The legs and the arms look rather organic versus being a mechanical servo/joint, which could work if you were going for something similar to how the Synth race in Half-life 2 was technically mechanical but actually very organic in movement and nature.
Just am wondering if you're picturing it as a faster agile mech, albeit a bit top heavy; or more of a classic lumbering boss like a mobile artillery platform. I guess it could always be an inbetween with the tail coming down to support siege mode
darkmag07 - Nope you aren't lame, that is actually a good point. I totally forgot to name the mech, will think of something for it!
Deathstick - Haha those names are great, will keep them in mind
I introduced a new character in the dog crew line up, an aerial bomber named Mags.
Character is inspired by my friend Terrie Denman's dog named Magneto
Brad - Thanks, appreciate it. Took me forever to get the poses, was a huge pain!
Will have some of these characters built in 3d soon. I still need to find myself an animator/rigger, if anyone is interested definitely ping me!
