At least, in terms of visual and particle effects. Remedy did an awesome jbo there. The gun fight at the ends relly pulls off.

The way the environnement distorts, I'm guessing they have amazing fx technicians in their teams.

    It really doesn't :/

Fxs are really cool though. Except that... nothing super cool. Maybe some cool scenes to look at, when time freezes (all scripted stuff though).

There is better, hd footage where he casually pushes away, floating in the air, molotov:D I found it funny.

They can take it into interesting places with its story (but it's really hard when you are dealing with time manipulation). Gameplay seems really generic.

Looks amazingly boring and mediocre. The whole time gimmick just isn't very interesting and adds little to the gameplay. There's not even a proper bullet time :( It reminds me of FUSE, and that's not a good thing.

The effects tech is pretty cool and impressive. I wonder if the entire ground is all heavily tessellated to give some of those cool distortion effects.

Game looks pretty dull, though. And the main character looks like a typical white guy brunette you can switch out of any game. I did like Alan Wake, so this could be pretty cool with a good enough story.

I wasent really impressed with the video, but then again, i wasent too excited about alan wake when i first saw it either, only later did i get stoked about it. And for the record, Alan Wake is an amazing game.

I think story/writing is one of the things Remedy does best. And I think they do better than most studios out there. Cant wait to see what they do in the sci-fi genera.

Looks awesome to me. Not sure if I'd buy a XB1 specifically for it, but it doesn't strike me as any more or less boring than the majority of cover shooters (which I enjoy, to be fair) and it's vastly more visually interesting with the crazy time shit.

Glad I'm not the only one who got an Alan Wake vibe from it. I really enjoyed Alan Wake, so this looks like it could be a fun game, but I will second the folks that said it doesn't look groundbreaking.

That being said, I don't really feel like I need something groundbreaking, so that's not really a con to me.

I was expecting more. The character seem very generic.. bad boy.. boring. I Really liked Alan Wake as a character. He was the everyday-normal guy, probably sitting at a desk most of the day and getting exhausted and catching his breath after running 10 meters.

When Alan Wake was released I spent a lot of time at the official Alan Wake forums and there I got the impression that most people loved the characters, the story and setting of Alan Wake. But people didn't really like the action/shooting aspect of the game. People wanted the ability to interact with locals and explore the town. I'm sad that Remedy decided to make another game with repetitive shooting instead.

Yeah is it me or do the game mechanics seem abit pointless in that video? The Art looks great tho. I like the fractal style for time displacement.
But it doesn't look fun to play with what they've shown so far, I'm hoping they take advantage of the time displacement more throughout the game.

But aside from the visuals I wouldn't say that was a strong gameplay video. I hope the next demos will show the game off better, I want it to be a good Remedy game. :)

I doubt this is gonna be as hum-drum as it appears to be. Hell, there are already little gameplay bits they've shown that hint at greater interactivity via time manipulation, and how enemies can control it too.

    Plus, it's Remedy.

Plus, it's written by Sam Lake. Even if the game sucks as a game, it will be a terrible game written by Sam Lake.

I fear that doesn't mean much today. Alan Wake didn't deliver on gameplay or story or visuals, so why Quantum Break should be any different?

I don't agree. Alan Wake had a strong story with interesting characters. But I can agree that the gameplay wasn't the best and the visuals was a bit outdated when the game was released. But hell. I've played through Alan Wake like 10 times and the DLC maybe 4-5 times (not 'American Nightmare' though, that DLC was just terrible). The thing that made Alan Wake unique was the depth of the plot and that the game was an obvious homage to Twin Peaks and Stephen King.

I enjoyed the game myself, but there was a lot of negativity toward its story when it was released. I guess many thought that the game is just too boring and makes absolutely no sense.

Game looks really cool to me, and this note from IGN makes it sound like there will be quite a bit more to it than the combat stuff shown:
I was treated to a hands-off demo that included the combat heavy segment shown in Microsoft’s press conference (which you can watch in the video embedded below), but also extended beyond it to reveal a sequence that relied on main character Jack Joyce’s time-shifting abilities in order to solve a series of environmental puzzles.

I'm looking forward to this game. I was pretty hesitant about Alan Wake until I played it on a friend's 360. I played through the game 3 times afterwards. Remedy know what they're doing.

Alan Wake was a great game in my opinion, it could have been better in some aspects but it was still a really solid experience. I recall the PC version having a ton of problems at launch but I'd imagine they're fixed by now, it's worth checking out if there's anybody out there that hasn't played it. The game and DLC go on sale for like $5 pretty often too.

Whoa, environmental puzzles. Because cover shooters need more of them.

Anyway, I just hope that they can pull it off well in the end. I really enjoyed my time with Max Payne and Alan Wake.

What's up with Remedy with not naming their games with main character's name anymore? Not cool.

None of those assessments are unanimous. I haven't been able to play AW yet, but everyone I know and trust praise the ever loving shit out of the game. I already disagree with you about the visuals.

Like, what sort of blanket subjective statement are you trying to pass off as a fact here? You spat that post on this forum like you got it off of a god damn wiki.

"The name you're excited for means little, because I didn't like their last game and you shouldn't either"

It's 2014. The internet has been commonplace for far too long. The line between objectivity and subjectivity shouldn't elude anyone this much anymore.

Sorry if this post sounds a bit hysterical and very belligerent, but I (now) come to this forum specifically to avoid that shit because people around here typically keep their elbows off the tables on this website. I just don't expect to see that kind of non-debate here.

Singularity time mechanics plus mediocre cover shooter. It's ok - they have exploding red barrels!

    Super rad vertex shaders though.

But that doesn't mean much. Everyone I know and trust hate Alan Wake or at least feel that it's not very good :smokin: . Also, when I said that it didn't deliver I meant that the game was much less that it was promised to be when it was first announced. I apologize if I did anything wrong, I didn't try to be a negative nancy. I'm just trying to express how I feel about Quantum Break.

Main story twist: His name really is Quantum Break.
