I've added a corkboard of sketches by the back light table (the only light source in this pic) and a Leon the Professional poster near the desk, but pretty much the same otherwise.
Let's be honest now, this is what everyone's desks looked like 10 mins before the pictures were taken.
ROFL... yes... so true. Seriously, even down to the Fallout bobblehead in the right hand corner... Though I think you might have it a tad worse with that range of drinks lol. Its usually the occasional empty New Belgium Rampant IPA on this end, next to a can of rockstar or two.
Moose: The bendy things are lights yeah, for when I need good overhead lighting. Made them myself out of aluminium strips and cheap lightbulb-socket-things
I don't use my Cintiq all the time and leave it turned off when I'm purely doing 3D and Netflix'ing, playing games or web browsing. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to have 2 monitors, especially with a 13HD.
I like having a full screen of reference, so if I have a movie or stream playing, juggling between reference and video is kinda annoying, I'm looking forward to adding a 3rd monitor eventually, really looking forward to higher resolutions at cheaper prices and GSYNC.
That's what I thought, one monitor exclusively for reference and the cintiq for work.
You are never really gonna be web browsing and looking at reference at the same time. In my case, I have a TV for watching stuff.
So would it really make sense to mirror de cintiq with another monitor while having the 3rd screen for reference? Seems kind of a waste, doesn't it?
Talking strictly about workflow stuff, cause if things are bad I could use the laptop as well. However I cant incorporate the laptop screen with my workflow. That's why I ask.
well. two large screens are really usefull, even when browsing oder watching videos i use them frequently
also, at least for me, a 13" cintiq wouldnt be the same as a second monitor at all
i could see me using it for painting or sculpting, but thats about it
i would still need my two big screens for hardsurface modelling or working in unity
but maybe thats just me
ps.: having two big screens with 2560x1440 resolution each is pretty much the best setup i´ve had so far. and i dont regret buying them for even a second.
i had my doubts at the beginning, but after i´ve set them up i never looked back.

Nice insights man. So even if I do a cintiq 13 + single 23", 1920x1080 monitor + 15" 1600x1050 laptop screen, you think it wouldn't be that good in the end?
Better stick with 2x 23 (which is what I can afford at the moment)?

there´s really no rule to it
people do great stuff even on a single 15" laptop
its up to your preference, if a 23" + 15" works for you, thats fine
if you feel you need more space, buy another one
the thing i wanted to point out is that a single screen + 13" cintiq might not work for everyone, at least not for me
Techno kill just do what works for you, and what you can justify cost wise, also if your are thinking of getting a cintiq see if you can try someone else for a day first. its a pretty big change over use something like a intuos or a bamboo. Not everyone likes that change or feels it is worth the money.
Im on 2x23inch 1080p displays and a intuosPro medium.

Yes, I have exactly the same setup and I got the cintiq as a gift.
However, the two 23" here are old, back from late 2009, not even IPS. So I can keep my setup and just add the cintiq or I can sell the 2 screens and get a new one, 23" as well but IPS and newer technology.
I use to own 2 of these, they had some pretty strong blacks but sold them 3 years ago. IPS are great but expensive I would try and sell those for say $100 for both. Save up first and then go ahead and swap them out, working with 1 monitor can be pretty limiting. The Dell Ultrasharp 24" is $200 with the 27" few hundred more. Go for IPS for higher resolution at 1920x1200 the your lg/accurate colors. I have also noted some IPS do require you to tune them for better colors think the kit like an extra $100
Pairing it with a brand new, small, wireless $60 Intuos Pen tablet makes it the perfect mobile workstation.
Can you link to where/how you're doing that for $60? I see a wireless kit on amazon but I'm sure it doesn't work with my ancient tablet so I'd like to upgrade on the cheap I would rejoice the day I could use my laptop + tablet without wires between the two! Thanks!
@Memory i got a intuos5Pro with the wireless kit, and find it isnt really worth useing since a charge only lasts 6 hours, before it has to be plugged back in. As a result i just use it directly plugged in. Also think the kit only works with newer models, since the tablet has a battery, than there is a slot for the wifi card
sry for crappy image quality. So here is where I habituate. Bought a big heavy beech countertop(250cm/100'' long and around 50kg/110lbs) from local hardware store, nailed the table legs underneath and call it a desk. Fixated it in-between the wall corner and gravity so it's extremely sturdy. A lot of desk space for less than $150.
This is probably off-topic but anyways. Have you ever tried to bind modo scripts/commands to your keyboard(bigger one)? I don't even know if its possible, just popped in my mind when I see modo viewport and dat keybord at the same time :poly142:

Pros & larger sizes suck up more battery life.
@Memory: Here it is. I will never buy another Pro after I started using this. It's awesome.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for headphones? I keep seeing some fancy ones and am looking to invest in some new ones. Not looking to go cheap but a budget of around £100. Thanks
yeah unreal is the one piece of software i've found where more monitors is always better. And trying to use it with one monitor is kind of like Chinese water torture.
just great! It's unavoidable to think about it when you have lots of keys and a modo viewport lying in front of you haha. Would be look cool to use a keyboard even in mini sizes while modeling  Eagerly waiting for your first results.

On the white desk?
it's my 3d printer haha, that would be a pretty weird PC case!
Do you have any problems with the smell of melted plastic stinking up your workspace? I was curious about that since I was looking into getting a 3d printer and trying to figure out if it's alright having it inside or having to find a setup in the garage with a laptop or something to connect to.

okay, i will be honest here
the cloth wrapped around the legs is still there from moving in ~2years ago
i am lazy =(
My Etch-a-sketch may need upgrading to a Trust tablet, although I don't think my VTech supports USB....
I know 2 monitors is a must for a intuos but with a cintiq I have my doubts.
Normaly 1 monitor for 3d/paint/sclupt and other one for video/reference.
But how about a cintiq 13hd? Do you think it makes sense having a cintiq 13hd and 2 monitors? Or just the cintiq and 1 monitor would be enough?
What do you think?

Your dog looks like he wants some attention peeking around the corner like that

btw: the ones I got are the lg w2353v. (http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-W2353V-PF-lcd-monitor)
I've been thorn with this decision, can't make my mind up!
Yup! It's amazing. Every day I use it I am more pleased.

...and my pup gets plenty of attention
She just likes to be cute.
Yeah baby, show me how dirty you get...
Option 1: 2x 23" 2009 (lg w2353v), non-IPS monitors + cintiq 13hd
or
Option 2: 1x 23" IPS brand-new monitor + cintiq 13hd (+ 15" laptop if I need another screen?)
Btw, should I create a thread specifically to that?
3 monitors is usually a little overkill, in my opinion. The third monitor, for me, is always used for ref images, which may as well be your laptop.
+1 to this, with a app like synergy you can even easily control your laptop with your desktop keys and mouse
Awesome case, what kind is that?
Nice desk, sturdy and well put together
lg w2353v

I have a random collection of old shitty monitors and the TV is usually more for entertainment than for work.

Whatever that white glowy thing is on the right side of your desk. Is that not the case to your computer? What is it?
it's my 3d printer haha, that would be a pretty weird PC case!
Sorry. I confused the printer with the case.
