I was just wondering if anybody knows how to make it so that the UVW Unwrap modifier emits from a straight parallel view so the UV's are the same shapes as the highlighted polygons???????????????
You probably want to use the UVW map modifier rather than unwrap for that.
UVW map is mostly for projection work (box, planar, sphere, cylindrical, etc), which then can be followed up with uvw unwrap if needed.
If you're using uvw unwrap you can always "flatten mapping" by a certain angle if you're really stuck and weld things together, albeit the most time-consuming process. Then there's always pelt mapping and unfold strip from loop which is pretty damn nice, along with other things. But yes, that would probably just be a basic planar map.
As a matter of fact, I have no idea what any of you are saying. No Elcomprenday Essay. My goal is to make an asset using 3d Max, like an art directed medieval building or props. Proof of the hard working, indigenous man working of...wherever.
Thanks for the thoughts and kind regards though, I know you guys are trying to help me, you have my gratitude.
Making progress in 3d max, a completely foreign game package with different modelling protocols. Anybody have some thoughts? Would be appreciated. I'm not much of a designer, yet. I could use some art direction. For me, every asset takes along time to make: #1 because it's a foreign package, #2 because it takes a lot of patience and time and hard work ethic to produce acceptable results. If anybody has anything productive to contribute, you have my gratitude!
Sincerely,

PS- I like rocks more than anything. Can I make a career out of making rocks for the industry or is that dumb? I don't like building buildings so much, especially with no art direction or design to follow. Anyway, just some food for thought.
