I'll give this one a shot. Here are some initial sketches, but I'm not sure what mood I want to go for yet. I do however know that I want it to be centered around a cathedral of sorts.
The bottom right one is definitely my favorite. The cool blues from the ice chasms juxtaposed with the orange from the structures are a lot more visually interesting to me than the others which just look like standard desert/refinery. Plus I think an ice chasm like that would provide a lot of opportunities with gameplay.
After giving it some thought I think a combination of the elements would look best. Top left has the best foreground elements, bottom left the most interesting building silhouette, and bottom right the best color contrast, while I think the top right has the darkest mood.
Best looking concept that I've seen on the forum so far. I like the top Right. Bottom right looks cool, but I always prefer hot looking environments to icy cold ones.
TorQue is certainly on to something when he says this is great concept art. Not sure if this is the place, but might I ask what set of brushes you're using? I recently picked up Shaddy Safadi's set and though I can't say yet that I know they're unable, I've yet to produce something with this sort of effective looseness to it. Of course, it's not all in the brushes someone uses, and more likely it's an experience thing, but any information on those brushes or whatever information you're willing to share about achieving this look would be appreciated.
More to the post: Bottom-left all day! ... with an honorable mention for top-right (I'm envious of that with light in the foreground ).
