mihalceanu, Yeah, i will bake the lights eventually, but not until i know what im using for a particle, the lights i might wanna add could be different, tho i dont think ill unite the bottom jaw part with the top, i kinda like the idea of it floating thanks to magic i guess? or we will see what i can come up with particles, since adding a chain link would be extremely easy since i just copy the one on top and past it. thanks for the input tho!

i hope is not that late but i think you could work a little more on the animations, like the death one it slows down the vertical movement before hitting the floor
also they could look more smooth in general, probably a cleanning pass checking the tangets will do the work =]
But the monthly competition is limited in heroes, and as it is stated in the first post, these heroes are: Shadow Demon, Doom, Queen of Pain, Terrorblade and Warlock; So, even if CK would count as a demon (which by lore he is not) he would not qualify.
Also no Lion
But rules are important to make sure everyone has a fair chance, and bending those rules would defy the idea behind the competition in the first place.
Also, thsoe QoP wings are amazing, they remind me of those Moths and butterflies who scare away predators with eyes on their wings
Warlock ward idea is great, I always love seeing more books And the tongues coming out is a nice touch that fits the hero very well.

Block in on the wings are done. Going to try to have it sculpted and baked by tomorrow night so Fudgie has time to texture it. Gotta finish this one in the next few days so I can put together my presentation for TI4.
Not sure if this is exactly what I wanted but I realised you need 2 pieces of chain in handle so it can hang normally. Thats why I needed to make it this way. Anyways just wanted to share with you before going in scuplt.
So, I decided to go with the second design but I'm in a bit of a stump. What should I add in detail to the mesh? Or do you guys think that the texture colors will take care of it?
it looks a bit too smooth for SD, i would recommend checking the base model, it has a lot of irregularities that textures by themselves wont capture, try adding some bumps and wear and tear into the spikes, some "muscle" definition to where they originate from the body. itll look like a set of wings from a costume if you dont incorporate it correctly into the body.

The ward turned out really nice! Some of the animations could be a bit less stiff as people said, but overall it looks great. I'm liking the Doom spear too! Just wondering how that is going to work with his default animations.
I'm almost wrapping up the sculpt of the Queen of Pain wings and hair, only some more tweaks on the gauntlet and perhaps some other stuff. Would really love some feedback on it.
We are just submitting the wings for the competition, perhaps we can make a full set of it later.
Im done with the bakes, and the skinning! it looks really good in game, but i just realized i wont have the time to mess arround with particles, anyone with some experience would like to give it a shot?! lemme know!!!
i like the idea but the back part doesnt make sense to me, considering as it will most likely be covered by her wings. try to focus the shape and detail on her front and im sure it will be beautiful.

I made some changes based on Artypis feedback, and have the basic design and geometry down which looks good in game. Just need to do the textures and some nice marketing pictures. Glad there's 31 days in this month.
oh, dang!!! I LOVE Shadow Demon, am I too late to enter this competition? I can totally come up with a single item with the time frame, although not sure how it will turn out since I'm a complete newbie with modeling!

welp, it definitely differs from the concept, but I'm at the lod1 tri limit, so I guess that's that. being one of the first models i've made, it got really messy in there. now to figure out how to texture things!
I went with a head/shoulder piece for Shadow Demon... I feel he is under-appreciated in so many ways!
Here's a quick throw of ideas around the fact that he was the leader of a cult... trying to figure out how to give his head a more 'royal' look without interfering with the particle area around his head...
I'm liking #1 better so far. Might take that sketch further tomorrow.

I think the 3 spikes could be beefed up quite a bit, good otherwise.
I agree with Baddcog, those kind of sharp spikes do not look good in dota 2 engine.

It's not too flashy, and I'm not very good at concept, so it will probably look more unique by the time I texture it and stuff!
