My site: http://avikohl.wix.com/3dny

Thanks to the magic of Youtube analytics, I know that potential employers are seeing my reel and I even know the average length of time they watch it (maximum is a little over one minute). However, due to the dearth of responses, I get the sense that my prospects are underwhelmed.

Can anybody here tell where I might be going wrong? I know the reel is a bit rough.

I watching your website and she is running very slow on my screen :/

In my opinion you have a to big arsenal of offers. You make animations, 3d models and illsutration, but I don't see nothing you make very well.
You should ask yourself what is your strongest abillity and you must improve this to get a specialist.

Icons/buttons are too big, the site is slow, and the hosting message at the bottom is horrible. That video on the front page is lame, replace it with something else. It also doesn't allow you to fast forward it if you don't scroll the page down at least once (1366x768 screen).

On your portfolio: It's bad. Like 1995 bad. You'd find potential employers in that era, but nobody will look twice now. You also do too much, find one field you most enjoy and focus on that. General advice everybody gives: Look at your favourite game that came out in 2010-2014, look at how models/animations look there, and if your art isn't close to that level of quality then study/practice more. As is, you'd need 2-3 more years of intensive training. Good luck. I know I sound harsh, but everybody needs a wake up call once in a while, to not waste their time going in a wrong direction.

Simple: Everything. You seem to not lack motivation, then there's no reason to not improve yourself and your art

I agree with pretty much everything Crazy_pixel said, but aside from that you also need to simplify your website a lot. Some quick points:
    - Remove the splash page (put the reel under animations instead)
    - Remove the 3D background (it's not particularly impressive)
    - Remove illustrations (they're worse than the 3D)
    - Remove lightbox and all the transitional effects (your website needs to be as fast as possible to browse)
    - Remove friends (the only linked site hurts my eyes)

The individual pieces on your website aren't particularly strong TBH. I've found that a lot of people seem to think that they can just be a generalist if they're not very good at any one thing. What it actually means in reality is that you're good enough at all of the skills to keep up a high enough standard that people would expect in a game across all of your chosen fields. I don't know that this is your mentality, but it seems like it could be.

Thanks for the honest feedback and providing insight into how these employers think.

I think I'll focus on keyframe animation and rigging since I've been repeatedly praised for that.

If you're doing animation, ur site can pretty much be one page. Title, resume, contact links at the top. Vids of your animations and tools below...done.
